Food

Humans have a cultural dependence on food. besides needing food to survive, we require it for a much larger reason. We have a emotional, and physical attachment to food. It comforts us. When we are sick we eat chicken noodle soup, when we are sad we eat ice cream, and when we are tired we drink a warm glass of milk to help us sleep. Food is what keeps us sane, and gets us through the day.

When was the last time someone had Thanksgiving without turkey? Turkey has become a custom and tradition for that holiday, and it would not be the same without it. When we do not have the food that we want we begin to miss it, and sometimes we can go through withdrawals. The "Super-Size Me" man ate strictly McDonalds for a month straight. When he stopped eating it he felt sad, and his body began to fall apart because he was physically, and psychologically dependent on that food. This constant need for food shows how important food really is in our life; going beyond the natural dependence to eat in order to survive, we need it to live.
